Todd County Central was in control throughout on Thursday night, cruising to a 17-0 win over visiting Caverna. The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the Rebels, improving their record to 4-17 overall. Caverna slips to 0-14 on the year.
The Rebels scored 3 first-inning runs and 4 in the second, before blowing the game open with 10 in the third. Caverna was unable to cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth, ending the game with a mercy rule.
7th grader Jase Hampton earned the win for the Rebels in his first varsity start, working 2.0 innings while allowing only two hits and striking-out three. Will Kearns pitched the rest of the way, also allowing two hits and striking-out one.
Nick Tutor led the Rebel offense, going 2-3 with 4 RBI, with Bryce Nolan collecting two hits and driving-in 2, and Pedro Gonzalez getting a hit and knocking-in 2. Hampton was 1-1 with an RBI, and Kearns, Tanner Farmer, Ethan Bicksler and Jacob Brandon all had an RBI.
Nick Gunn took the loss for Caverna, lasting 2.0 innings and allowing 10 runs, 7 earned, on five hits with a strikeout and four walks.
The Rebels have the weekend off before hosting the 13-8 Trigg County Wildcats on Monday.
