A 5th inning rally carried the Muhlenberg County Mustangs past the Christian County Colonels Thursday night. The Mustangs scored six runs in the top of the 5th on their way to a 7-3 win at Colonel Field.
Christian County took the early lead in the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Eric Silvy laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Patrick Croney and put the Colonels up 1-0. Jase Polley followed with a single to drive in Austin Fields and give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.
The score remained unchanged until the top of the 5th when the Mustangs put together seven hits to score their six runs.
The Colonels got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning when Patrick Croney scored on a Mustang error to make it 6-3. The Mustangs got am insurance run in the top of the 7th inning to close out the game.
Jase Polley was 2-4 with an RBI. Austin Fields was 1-3 with a run scored.
Lane Duiguid went the distance for Christian County, giving up seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits, striking out 11 while walking just one.
