In girls’ singles play, Brittney Ketchum beat UHA’s Sophia Maddux 6-0, 6-2 and is scheduled to play Madisonville’s Madison Cummings in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Esther Fritz fell to Hopkins Central’s Jordan Durst 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) in her first-round match.
In girls’ doubles, the Olivia Sims/Bruggs duo dropped their opener 6-0, 6-0 to Hopkins Central, with Alyssa Seale and Madison McCormick also losing in the first round, 6-2, 6-2 to UHA.
In boys’ singles, both Killian Jakstis and Jeff Watson prevailed in their first match before falling to the 1st and 2nd seed, respectively, in the second round. Jakstis knocked-off Webster’s Seth Ranes 6-4, 6-0, but ran into top-seeded Jon Nunez of Henderson, losing 6-0, 6-0. Watson had no trouble with Webster’s Eli Byrum, winning 6-0, 6-0, but was blanked in the second round by Hoptown’s 2nd-seeded Newcomb Maddux.
The boys’ doubles team of Dionte Berry and Takuma Pachnett lost to Caldwell 6-1, 6-0 in their first match, with the duo of Joshua Barrington and Jack Powers falling 7-5, 6-4 to Christian County in their only match.
