The Lyon County Lady Lyons rebounded from a tough district loss to Trigg County by rolling past Fort Campbell Monday evening. The Lady Lyons only came to the plate in two innings, but that was enough as they routed the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons 20-1.
Lyon County took advantage of Fort Campbell pitching woes to score seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Lyons had six batters hit by pitches, and had three batters get on base by walk, as they led 7-0 after the first.
After Fort Campbell went down quietly in the top of the 2nd, the Lady Lyons got right back to work. Lyon County had three more batters hit by a pitch and three more get on base by walk. Additionally, the Lady Lyons strung together five straight singles, as they plated 13 runs in the inning.
Fort Campbell was able to get a run in the top of the 3rd for the final 20-1 margin.
Jaiden Capello was 2-2 with an RBI and 3 runs scored for Lyon County. Rachel Coursey and Tori Schenk were both 1-1 with 2 RBI’s each. For Fort Campbell, Sara Silva was 2-2 with a run scored.
Tori Schenk went the distance for Lyon County in the circle, giving up one run on two hits, striking out six, and walking two.
