The Christian County Colonels took advantage of six Henderson County errors, five in the first two innings to pick up a 9-3 win over the northern Colonels Friday evening. Christian County scored all of the runs it would need in the bottom of the first inning.

After Henderson County took advantage of a Christian County error in the top of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead, Christian County quickly got to work in the bottom of the inning.

Christian County scored its first run of the game when Henderson County committed back to back errors to start the bottom of the first. Lane Diuguid then extended the lead to 2-1 when he came up with an RBI double. Following back to back walks, Henderson County committed another error, this time allowing two runs to score, and allowing Christian County to lead 4-1 after the first inning.

Christian County got things rolling again quickly in the bottom of the second inning. After a single and a steal by Austin Fields, Eric Silvy hit a single to score Fields and extend the lead to 5-1. Two more walks, another Henderson County error, and a fielder’s choice, and the Christian County lead was up to 7-1 after two innings.

Henderson cut the lead to 7-3 when they were the beneficiaries of two bases loaded walks in the top of the 3rd inning.

After a dropped third strike allowed Christian County to load the bases in the bottom of the 6th, the Colonels scored two insurance runs on Henderson County’s sixth error of the game to push the lead out to 9-3.

Christian County scored the nine runs on only five hits in the contest. Eric Silvy led the way, going 3-4 with an RBI. Lane Duiguid was 1-4 with an RBI.

On the mound, Keith Stallons went 6 2/3, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits, and striking out two.
