Lady Wildcats Win Twice on Opening Day of Invitational

Trigg County opened play in their Lady Wildcat Invitational Friday with wins over Fort Campbell and Obion County, TN.

Freshman Kara Southwood pitched a one-hitter and struck out four as the Lady Wildcats beat Fort Campbell 17-0.

Trigg County scored 14 runs in the first inning and added three more in the second in getting their third win of the week over the Lady Falcons.

Adri Phillips had three hits and three RBIs, while Southwood had two hits, including a triple, and three runs knocked in. Alyssa Southwood and Isabella Alexander also had two hits for the Lady Wildcats, and Kenzi Ellis knocked in a pair of runs.

Seventh grader Lizette Ceja had Fort Campbell’s lone hit in the game.

In the nightcap, Hannah Colbert homered and doubled to help the Lady Wildcats to an 8-0 win over Obion County.
Julia Rhone and Logan Darnall each had two hits and two RBIs for Trigg County, scored five times in the second inning.

Colbert struck out eight and allowed just two hits to Obion County (1-13).

Trigg County (11-6) will play Graves County and Hopkinsville Saturday as the Lady Wildcat Invitational continues Saturday at the Complex.

Fort Campbell (1-16) lost their second game of the event to Crittenden County 15-0.
