The Trigg County softball team only scored 3 runs over two games on Saturday, but still managed to beat Murray High 2-1, before falling to Daviess County 7-1.  The Lady Wildcats finish 2-2 over two days at the Marshall County Slugfest, and stay at .500 on the year at 6-6.

The Lady Wildcats took advantage of a Murray error to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.  Neither team would score again until the top of the fifth when Murray tied the game at 1.  In their half of the inning, Trigg County pushed back in front on an RBI single by junior Autumn Durham.  Junior Hannah Colbert retired six of the next seven Lady Tiger batters to close out the 2-1 victory.

Colbert worked all seven innings, only allowing 1 run on three hits with eight strikeouts and a walk.  Durham and junior Logan Darnall both had two hits, and freshmen Adri Phillips and Phelan Dossett each had a hit.

Freshman Livy Bogard took the loss for Murray High, going six innings and allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, with a strikeout.  Freshman Makenzie Turley had two hits and scored a run for the Lady Tigers.

Trigg opened the scoring in its second game of the day with a run in the first inning on an RBI single by junior Madison Simpson.  However, that would be the last time the Lady Wildcats crossed the plate, and the Lady Panthers tied the game at 1 in the top of the third.

Neither team scored again until the Lady Panthers erupted for 5 runs in the top of the fifth to build a 6-1 lead.  A Daviess County run in its half of the sixth finished the scoring, and Trigg County wrapped up the weekend with a 7-1 loss.

Colbert took the loss, surrendering 7 runs, 4 earned, on eight hits with twelve strikeouts and a couple of walks.  Simpson had a couple of hits and an RBI, followed by Darnall and junior Julia Rhone with a hit each.

Junior Cameron Hamilton earned the win for the Lady Panthers, working seven innings while scattering four hits and yielding a run.  She struck out eight and walked two.  Freshman Abby Newman and 8th grader Millie Roberts each had two hits, with Newman knocking-in 3 and Roberts 2.

Trigg County returns to action on the road at the 4-4 Calloway County Lady Lakers on Monday.  Trigg beat Calloway 4-1 in Cadiz earlier in the season.
