Trigg County swept a Fifth District doubleheader from Crittenden County Friday, winning by scores of 11-6 and 13-3.
Trigg County jumped ahead in game one with four runs in the first and four runs in the second inning.
Darrin Brown had an RBI single sandwiched between a bases loaded walk and two Crittenden errors in the first inning for a quick 4-0 Wildcat lead.
Savion Radford’s RBI single got the scoring going for Trigg in the second inning followed by an RBI hit by Andrew Williamson and a two-run single by Brown.
Trigg took a 9-0 lead on the Rockets and looked to close them out, but a two-run single by Jayden Carlson brought Crittenden to within 9-2.
The Wildcats added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Riley Stallons and a Radford sacrifice fly.
Crittenden made things interesting with three runs in the seventh inning for the final margin.
Jake Terrell picked up the pitching win with six innings of eight-hit baseball. He allowed two earned runs and struck out seven while issuing no walks.
Stallons finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Brown had two hits and three RBIs, and Radford had a pair of hits and two runs knocked in.
Crittenden County got two hits each from Tyler Boone and Trace Adams.
The second game, which was played with Trigg as the home team after the contest was rescheduled from earlier in the season, was interrupted by a 29-minute rain delay in the third inning with Trigg County leading 11-3.
Crittenden, who was the visiting team in game two, scored three times in the first on two walks, two Trigg errors, and a hit.
Trigg answered with three runs in the first on doubles by Trevor Cortner and Hayden Cunningham and a Crittenden error.
The Wildcats broke the game open with eight runs in the second inning, helped by a two-run single by Cunningham and a two-run double by Jude Hunter.
Cunningham finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Cortner and Tyler Ladd each had two hits and a run knocked in.
Ashton Plymale got the pitching win, with five innings of two hit baseball. He overcame some early wildness where he walked six batters and struck out 11.
Trigg County (6-3) returns to action Tuesday in another Fifth District game when they travel to Lyon County.
