One night after losing in the Second Region All-A Classic championship game, the University Heights Academy bats were silent in a 7-1 loss to Owensboro Catholic at Simmons Field.
Zachary Naylor’s third inning double was the only hit of the game for the Blazers.
Luke Welch didn’t pitch bad for UHA, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight. However, four Blazer errors and six walks gave the Aces enough of a cushion throughout the night. OCath scored their seven runs over the final four innings.
UHA scored their lone run in the fourth inning when Drew McGowan walked, stole second and third and later crossed home plate on a wild pitch.
Owensboro Catholic, who lost to Hancock County in the Third Region All-A Classic, improved to 5-5 with the win.
UHA also has a 5-5 record and is slated to host Crittenden County Saturday at Simmons Field.
