Crittenden County opened defense of their All-A Region title with a convincing 11-1 win over Lyon County Monday in the quarterfinals of the Second Region All-A Classic Tournament in Eddyville.
Matthia Long doubled and homered while driving in three runs, and Kaitlyn Hicks had two hits and four RBIs to pace the 11-hit Lady Rocket attack.
Long homered as part of a four-run third inning that built Crittenden’s lead to 5-0.
Hicks hit a bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning that sparked a five-run frame and put the game away for the Lady Rockets.
Lyon County got two hits apiece from Calista Collins, Kyra Craft, and Kerstin Craft. Collins had a double and triple, and Kerstin Craft had an RBI single.
Crittenden County (7-2) will play Caldwell County (3-0) in the semifinals Tuesday at Lyon County.
Lyon County (3-7) will play in the Marshall County Slugfest this weekend in Draffenville.
