Emma Talley shot her final two rounds under par to finished tied for 37th place at the 47th ANA Inspiration Tournament, the first LPGA major of the 2018 season.
The Princeton native opened with a 3-under 69 on the first day before shooting a 1-over 73 in the second round. She shot a pair of 1-under 71s in the final two rounds to finish the tournament at 4-under, 11 shots behind winner Pernilla Lindberg, who won a three-way playoff on the eighth hole Monday.
The finish is the second-best for Talley in an LPGA major. She finished tied for 17th in the 2014 Women’s British Open as an amateur. She also missed the cut at the 2014 ANA Inspiration.
Talley won $16,747 for her weekend and moves up from 63rd to 62nd on the Race to the CME Globe. She is also third in the Rolex Rookie of the Year money list with $51,690 this year.
The LPGA Tour stays west with the LOTTE Championship presented by the Hershey April 11-14 in Hawaii. The tour will not cross the Mississippi River until mid-May when Williamsburg, Virginia hosts an event.
Talley talked about her weekend at Rancho Mirage with the Symetra Tour Sunday.
