McSwain, McKnight Win Events for Hoptown Track

Yogi McKnight won the long jump and finished second in the triple jump at the Invitational of the South Saturday.

Helped by strong performances in the sprint and jump categories, Hopkinsville’s girls finished fifth at the Invitational of the South Track Meet Saturday at Murray State University.

Jakayla McSwain won the 400-meter dash and brought home two other top-five finishes, while Yogi McKnight had a pair of top two finishes in the long jump and triple jump.

Hoptown’s boys also had a top-ten finish, scoring 47 points to finish seventh out of 21 teams.

BOYS

Keion Brown won the 400-meter run (51.28)
Chase Atkins was second in the 1600-meter dash (4:55.96) and sixth in the 3200-meter run (10:47.75)
JeVon Leavell was fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.90) and 16th in the 200-meter dash (24.98)
Mitchell Degenhardt was 14th in the 200-meter dash (24.96)
Cameron Bussell was 14th in the 400-meter dash (56.79)
Korbyn Newsome was 15th in the 800-meter run (2:20.98)
Max Dubois was 16th in the 3200-meter run (12:11.15) and 20th in the 1600-meter dash (5:45)
Zahnte Brown was 17th in the 300-meter hurdles (48.87)

Hopkinsville won the 400-meter relay in 45.19
800-meter relay was third (1:33.95)
1600-meter relay was fourth (3:44.98)

GIRLS

Jakayla McSwain won the 400-meter dash (59.39); was third in the 100-meters (13.16); fourth in the 200-meters (26.93)
Yogi McKnight won the long jump at 16-11.50 and second in the triple jump (34-09)
Meghan Easton was third in the 800-meter run (2:32.30); ninth in the 1600-meter run (5:58.50)
Rynesha Smith was fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:05.43)
Allison Wood was sixth in the freshman 1600-meter run (6:08); 10th in the 3200-meter run (13:39.64); 17th in the 800-meter run (2:54.04)
Tajayha Miller was 12th in the triple jump (29-05.50) and 20th in the long jump (13-01.25)
The 1600-meter relay team won in a time of 4:13.47
