Headed into the official opening of the high school baseball season Monday, the Christian County Colonels went on the road Thursday evening and picked up a scrimmage win against Madisonville. The Colonels edged the Maroons 5-4.
Austin Fields and Eric Silvy led the Christian County offensive effort with two hits each. Fields also scored a run and had a stolen base. Silvey scored two runs and added a stolen base to his performance. Wyatt Stevenson, Lane Duiguid, and Cameron Crider all had RBIs for the Colonels.
In all the Christian County came up with eleven hits against Maroon pitchers.
On the mound, Christian County had six pitchers combine to allow only three hits. Colonel hurlers had eight strikeouts, led by Austin Fields and Wyatt Stevenson with three each.
Christian County is set to officially open the 2018 season Monday on the road at McCracken County.
