Crittenden County just had one more bucket in them at the end as they held off Lyon County 52-51 Tuesday and advance to the Girls’ Fifth District championship game.
Madison Champion had 27 points to lead Crittenden County, but the Lady Rockets got several key buckets in the fourth quarter from Shelby Summers and Mauri Collins. Champion had 23 points through three quarters and hit a three to start the fourth quarter that gave the Lady Rockets a 38-35 lead. Summers followed with her first 3-pointer of the season to extend the lead to 41-35.
Summers added two more buckets to finish with nine points as Crittenden saw Lyon cut their lead to two points four times in the final 3:36 but could not take the lead. Collins scored four of her 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Crittenden held a 20-11 lead in the first half only to see Lyon County’s Allison Murphy score the next 11 points to give the Lady Lyons a 22-21 lead. The Lady Lyons led 24-22 at halftime, but Champion and Collins combined to score all 13 Crittenden points in the third quarter.
Murphy led Lyon County with 17 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Hannah Holloman and Kenttavia Matthews each scored 10 points. Lyon County’s season ends with a record of 18-10.
Crittenden County (14-13) will look to defend their district title Friday against Livingston Central (14-14).
