The Todd County Central Lady Rebels will play for the 13th District championship Thursday night. The Lady Rebels advanced to the title game by routing Russellville 56-36 Tuesday night at Logan County High School.
The game was anything but a rout early. Both teams struggled offensively in the opening quarter, before Todd County Central took a slim 9-8 lead after one.
The low scoring battle continued through the second quarter. The Lady Rebels inched their lead out to 21-18 as the two teams headed off to the locker room.
The big swing in the game came during the 3rd quarter. Led by Amy Brumfield, who connected on four three point shots in the quarter, the Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Panthers 24-7 in the quarter to extend their lead to 45-25 and effectively put the game away.
For the night, Brumfield led the way for Todd County Central with 20 points. Tatyanna Peterson had another solid game with 11 points for the Lady Rebels. Russellville was led by Deshala LaBlanc with 10 points.
The Lady Rebels improve to 14-13 on the season, and advance on to Thursday night’s championship game against the host Logan County Lady Cougars.
