The Christian County Colonels traveled to Bowling Green on Thursday night, using a big fourth quarter to win 67-55 over the Purples.  The Colonels were without the services of senior forward and leading scorer Detorrion Ware due to illness.  The win is Christian County’s ninth straight, improving its record to 19-6 on the year.  Bowling Green sees a two-game win streak snapped, dropping to 19-10.

Neither team could pull ahead in the opening quarter, with the teams tied at 15 after eight minutes.  The back-and-forth affair continued in the second period, and the Purples took a slight, 32-30 lead into the halftime locker room.  Senior forward JaQuon Long led the Colonels in scoring at the break with 7, followed closely by senior guard Cory Trice and junior forward Eric Brody with 6 each.

The teams continued to trade baskets in the third quarter, although the Colonels were able to tip the Purples 17-15 to tie the game at 47 with one quarter remaining.  Brody scored 9 in the fourth quarter, part of his 14-point second half, and senior forward Kolbe Langhi chipped in 5 to lead the Colonels to 20 points.  The Colonels tightened the defensive clamps as well, holding the Purples to only 8 points to pull away for a 67-55 win.

Brody’s 20 led the Colonels, with Trice finishing with 11.  Long and junior forward Fred Tandy both scored 10, followed by Langhi and sophomore guard Damikeon Mathis with 9 each.  Seniors Jarius Key and Ziyon Kenner were the leading scorers for Bowling Green with 17 and 14, respectively.

The Colonels begin their quest for an 8th District championship on Monday, when they host the Fort Campbell Falcons at Colonel Gym.  Christian County won both regular-season meetings with the Falcons.
