Caldwell Uses Strong Second Half to Roll Past Ohio County

After trailing by as many as nine points early in the game, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers rallied and won going away Monday night at Ohio County. The Lady Tigers overcame their recent offensive struggles, putting up 46 points in the second half on their way to a 67-49 road win.

However, the evening did not start off quite so promising for Caldwell County. Thanks to a 10-0 first quarter run, Ohio County took a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ohio County would extend the lead to nine points early in the second quarter, before seeing Caldwell County battle back to cut the lead to four points at 25-21 at the break.

In the second half, the Lady Tiger offense suddenly found its stride. Trailing by 2 late in the third quarter, Caldwell County finished the quarter on a 9-4 run to give them a 41-38 lead going into the final quarter. The third quarter saw the Lady Tigers score just one fewer point than they did in the entire first half of play.

Caldwell County then played on of its most efficient quarters of the season to pull away for the big win. The Lady Tigers scored 26 points in the final quarter, while holding Ohio County to just 11 points, as Caldwell County picked up the win going away.

Bella McConnell was big for Caldwell County with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Jacey Jaggers and Majah Hollowell added 12 each, while Jada Boyd had 10. Kelsey Kennedy was the only player to reach double figures for Ohio County with 17 points.

Caldwell County improves to 13-11 on the season, while Ohio County falls to 5-22.
