Christian County High School senior Detorrion Ware is one of 16 national finalists in the American Family Insurance High School/Dream Fearlessly Slam Dunk Championship fan vote. It marks the second straight year a Christian County player has been part of the national online voting competition.
Voting will begin Tuesday when the site goes live at www.highschoolslam.com. The player with the most votes then advance to the next round. The winner will be invited to participate in the national slam dunk championships during the NCAA Final Four weekend on Sunday, April 1.
People will get one chance to vote per day per device. The Round of 16 runs Feb. 13-20 followed by the quarterfinals (Feb. 21-28), semifinals (March 1-8), and Finals (March 9-16)
Ware’s dunk in the Jan. 27 game against Hopkinsville was used to nominate him to become part of the contest.
Last year, Colonel senior Jaylen Sebree advanced to the finals of the national contest where he lost to Jay Shropshire with 48-percent of the vote. Shropshire currently plays for South Georgia State College.
Voting in this year’s dunk contest will begin at noon on Tuesday.
