One Marshall County athlete is in a Nashville hospital recovering following Tuesday morning’s shooting at Marshall County High School, while his twin brother was somehow able to escape mostly unscathed following the incident. According to life long friends of the family, Mason Cosner is among the four Marshall County students being treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center. His twin brother Christian was trampled during the evacuation but is ok.

Reports from family friends say Mason Cosner was shot in the face, injuring his jaw, with the bullet then fracturing a vertebrae. Cosner underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon.

Cosner is a member of the Marshall County cross country team. He finished 9th in the Class 3A regional meet last fall, and then finished 65th in the Class 3A state meet. Mason’s brother Christian also runs cross country.

Cosner’s stepfather Brad Hall is an administrator with the Marshall County School system. Mason and Christian’s mother, Christa, is the guidance counselor at Jonathan Elementary School.
