While the 2nd Region Boys All A Classic appears to have a solid favorite, the girls regional could be a wide open affair. The girls regional is slated to get underway Monday night at three locations across the area.

If you had to come up with a favorite going into the tournament, it might be the team that does not have to play a first round game Monday, and gets to play on their home court for the duration of the tourney. The Caldwell County Lady Tigers drew the bye among the seven teams in the region, and will not have to play unti the semifinals, against the winner of the game between Dawson Springs and University Heights. The Lady Tigers are 6-1 against teams in the tournament, losing to Lyon County in the season opener.

Livingston Central and Lyon County would appear to be the biggest threats to Caldwell County at this points. The Lady Cardinals are 3-1 against teams in the tournament, losing by 11 to Caldwell County, and two very close wins over Lyon County, by 3 and by 1.

The Lady Lyons are 3-3 against regional teams. They split with Crittenden County, lost twice to Livingston Central, beat Caldwell County and Dawson Springs.

Crittenden County could be the dark horse of the tournament. The Lady Rockets beat Lyon County in Eddyville, but lost to the Lady Lyons in Marion. They also have a pair of win over Dawson Springs. Crittenden County is 4-3 against the teams playing in the region.

UHA has seen their struggles at times this season, but it would be dangerous to count the Lady Blazers out of the All A region tournament. The Lady Blazers are 2-1 against 2nd Region All A team, losing a close game to Caldwell County earlier in the season.

The two teams that appear to be the long shots of the tournament are the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers and the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons. Fort Campbell is winless on the season, and is struggling to score points. Dawson Springs is 1-4 against regional teams, with the only win coming over Fort Campbell.

Monday night action has Livingston Central at Fort Campbell at 7:00; Crittenden County at Lyon County at 7:00; and Dawson Springs at UHA at 6:00pm.

The semifinals are at 6:00 and 7:30 Thursday at Caldwell County, with the championship game Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at Caldwell County.
