Calloway County used a 14-0 second half run and held on to beat Trigg County 49-43 Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.
Calloway jumped out to a 15-4 thanks to hitting seven of their first nine shots. Trigg answered with a 14-2 run to take an 18-17 lead late in the first half.
Both teams played fairly even in the third quarter before Trigg built their largest lead of the game at 34-29 with 1:45 left in the frame. Calloway answered with the final five points of the quarter and the first nine points of the fourth quarter to build a 43-34 lead, keeping Trigg off the scoreboard for a 5:51 stretch of the second half.
Trigg didn’t get closer than five points the rest of the way thanks to Calloway knocking down 10-of-16 shots in the second half.
Three Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Devron Triplet’s 12 points. DeOvion Day added 10 points and four rebounds, and Kendric Adams scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Garrett Scott led Calloway County (7-10) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Aaron Dawson scored 16 points, and Jeremy Darnell scored nine of his 12 points in the second half.
Trigg County (8-6) returns to action Friday when they host Crittenden County in a Fifth District matchup at Wildcat Gym.
