Lady Blazers Roll Past Russellville in Warren East Tourney

After dropping their first two games in the Warren East Holiday Hoops Classic, the UHA Lady Blazers rebounded in a big way Thursday afternoon, blowing past the Russellville Lady Panthers 65-37. The win put an end to a five game losing streak for the Lady Blazers.

The game was tightly contested throughout the first half. UHA held an 18-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Behind a huge second quarter from Anshanique Leavell, UHA was able to extend the lead to 35-29 at the half. Leavell had 13 of her 21 first half points in the second quarter.

In the second half, the Lady Blazer defense put the clamps on Russellville, holding the Lady Panthers to no field goals in the 3rd quarter and one 3-point field goal in the 4th. UHA was able to pull away, scoring 17 points in the 3rd quarter and 13 points in the 4th.

The Lady Blazers were led by Anshanique Leavell with 32 points. Lily Hendricks had 13, while Ann Marie Fitzpatrick added 12. Chloe Whitescarver led the Lady Panthers with 10.

The win ups UHA’s record to 3-6 on the season.
