The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers continued their early season roll in the 2nd Region Friday night as they held the Hopkins Central Lady Storm in single digits each quarter, on their way to a 68-27 win at Tiger Gym. Hopkinsville jumped out to a 19-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
The Lady Tigers then put the game away in the second quarter, as they outscored Hopkins Central 25-7 to push the lead out to 44-15 at the break.
Hopkinsville’s defensive pressure did its best work of the night in the 3rd quarter. During that time period, the Lady Tigers held Hopkins Central to just three points as the lead increased to 58-18. Both teams played several younger players in the 4th quarter, as the running clock came into play. Hopkinsville outscored the Lady Storm in the quarter 10 to 9 to reach the final margin.
Hopkinsville was led by Breon Oldham and Jayla Rose with 18 points each. London Foster also reached double figures with 15. Hopkins Central was paced by Hailye Hollis and Nykea Ikeard with 6 points each.
Hopkinsville goes to 6-1 on the season, while Hopkins Central falls to 4-4.
