Hopkinsville Uses Huge First Half Run to Roll Past Trigg County (w/PHOTOS)

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers used a 27-0 first half run to cruise past the Trigg County Lady Wildcats Thursday night at Tiger Gym 56-14. The Hopkinsville pressure and defensive presence inside was too much for the young Lady Wildcats to overcome.

Hopkinsville was leading 7-3 in the first quarter when the run began. By the time it ended late in the 2nd quarter on a Lauren Oliver, Trigg County had been held scoreless for ten minutes, and trailed 34-5. Hopkinsville extended the lead to 40-7 at the break.

Hopkinsville scored early in the 3rd quarter to push the lead out to 42-7, and activate the running clock for the rest of the contest. The Lady Tigers would score five more points in the quarter, while holding Trigg County scoreless, to increase the margin to 47-7 after three.

Both teams had the chance to then play several younger players in the 4th quarter.

Hopkinsville was led by London Foster and Jayla Rose with 12 points each. Breon Oldham added 10. Zakyra Stallworth was a huge presence inside for Hopkinsville with 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 blocked shots.

Lauren Oliver led Trigg County with 6 points, while Adri Phillips added 3.

Hopkinsville moves to 5-1 on the season with the win, which was their 4th in a row, and will now host Hopkins Central Friday night. Trigg County falls to 2-6, and will go on the road Saturday to take on Fort Campbell.
