Trigg County shook off some rust and beat Carlisle County three out of four quarters Saturday in their only preseason scrimmage.  Two areas where the Wildcats showed improvement from last year’s 8-19 record were shooting and rebounding.

Trigg County hit 27-of-44 shots from the field (61%), including 6-of-12 from 3-point range.  The Wildcats also outrebounded Carlisle County 26-24.

Trigg won the first three quarters by scores of 15-9, 22-19, and 20-15. Carlisle County won the fourth quarter 16-12.

Trigg County played without three players that started games last year – Cam Jordan, Jakobe Bridges, and Jacob Kent – due to injuries. The Wildcats still had eight players reach the scoring column. Devron Triplet, who led the Wildcats in scoring last year at 18 points a game, scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out six assists.

Eighth grader Kendrick Adams scored 15 points and continually made his way to the free throw line, hitting 7-of-12 in the contest.

Micah Brown came off the bench to knock down three shots from 3-point range and finish with 15 points and three assists. Conner Barnes had eight points and four assists, and Kirome Bingham, who missed all of last year with an ACL injury, returned to score seven points.

6-foot-6 senior DeOvion Day, who also missed all of last year with a broken leg, is expected to give the Wildcats an inside presence they sorely missed last year. He had six points and eight rebounds.

Reese Anderson led Carlisle County, who was 12-17 last year, with 15 points. The Comets shot 47-percent from the field, but just 3-of-20 from 3-point range.

Trigg County opens their season Tuesday, Nov. 28 against Fulton County at Wildcat Gym.
