Breeanna Barnes is only a sophomore but has already run in four state cross country meets for Trigg County. The sophomore’s fourth came Saturday at the Class 2A State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Barnes finished in 172nd place in a time of 24:48 over the 3.1-mile course.
Breeanna’s father Jason Barnes was a member of Trigg County’s 1986 state champion cross country team that won their first title on the old steeplechase course on the other side of the horse park. Breeanna talked about her run Saturday and added that, yes, her father reminds her of his past glory.
