While in years past the Caldwell County girls’ soccer team had been a regular contender for the 2nd Region title, it had been 2011 since the Lady Tigers had advanced to the regional championship match.  They were denied the title by Henderson County this year, but not before collecting their second straight 7th District championship and posting a 14-10-1 record.  The Lady Tigers scored 75 goals and allowed 46.

Caldwell will face the tall task of replacing 8 graduating seniors next season, including second-leading scorer Meridan Giannini (12 goals, 8 assists), third-leading scorer MacKenzie Smiley (11 goals), who was also second in assists (10), Matteah Butts (6 goals), assist leader Taely Freeman (11 assists), defensive standout Sarah Grace Carneyhan, and goalkeeper Dru Hadley Thomas (8 shutouts).

Returning for the Lady Tigers are junior leading-scorer Laney Fletcher (19 goals, 4 assists), and Lucy Goffinet (9 goals, 4 assists).  Sophomore Katlyn Manley posted 3 shutouts in 2017, and would figure to be in goal full time next season.
