Hopkinsville staggered at times but was able to put away Livingston Central in straight sets to pick up their first region tourney win since 2004 Tuesday at Trigg County. Hopkinsville’s 25-20, 25-12, 25-22 win over the Lady Cardinals is only their second region tourney win in seven career matches.

London Foster and Karalyn Beymer combined for four kills as the Lady Tigers turned a 19-19 tie into a 25-20 first set win. Foster finished the set with six kills.

Hoptown began the second set much in the same way they finished the first as Foster had three kills, and Hope Pace added a kill and two aces to push the Lady Tigers to a 10-3 lead out of the gate. Livingston would get as close as 12-6, but Sarah Cavanah responded with three kills to send Hoptown to a 25-12 win.

Livingston battled back in the third set and led 15-11 thanks to five Hoptown service errors in the set. A Hailey

Stafford ace gave Livingston a 21-19 advantage, however Hoptown scored six of the last eight points of the set to claim the match victory.

Foster finished the match with 11 kills and an ace. Cavanah had seven kills and 24 assists, and Beymer had nine kills and two aces. Hoptown also got strong play from Savannah Peck, who had 13 assists.

Senior Tabby Padan had eight kills for Livingston Central, who finishes with a 19-12 record with their sixth straight loss in region tournament play.

Hopkinsville (21-17) will play Caldwell County in the semifinals Wednesday at 5:30.
