Hopkinsville is in the Second Region Volleyball Tournament for the first time in six years. They will try and win their first game in the region tourney since 2004 when they play Livingston Central Tuesday at 5:30 at Trigg County’s Wildcat Gym.
Hopkinsville (20-17) and Livingston Central (19-11) did not meet during the regular season. The Lady Cardinals have lost four straight region tourney openers dating back to 2011 when they beat Hopkinsville in straight sets. Hoptown’s only region tourney win came in 2004 over Trigg County.
Hoptown has won six of eight matches heading into the region tourney, including the Eighth District title.
Livingston Central swept through the Fifth District regular season before they were upended by Trigg County in the tournament championship match. The Lady Cardinals have dropped six of their last seven matches headed into Tuesday’s quarterfinal.
