Gamez Bags Top 20 Finish at Graves County Meet

Gabe Gamez led the Fort Campbell cross country runners Saturday at the Graves County Eagles Classic in Mayfield. Gamez ran the 3.1-mile course in a time of 19:37 to finish in 20th place.

Joshua Ricketts finished in 24th place place followed by Andrew Sincere (38th), Tyler Mickley (54th), William DeShazo (56th), Josh Murphy (69th) and Gabe Fonseca (99th).

As a team, Fort Campbell finished seventh out of 10 teams.

In the girls’ race, Yasmin Espinoza led the Lady Falcons with a ninth place finish in a time of 22:20, followed by Julia Bonano (58th), and Hannah Salas (59th).

On Thursday, Fort Campbell’s girls finished fourth at the St. Mary/FCA All Comers Meet at Noble Park in Paducah. Yasmin Espinoza was seventh, followed by Maddison Ruggles (11th), Noemi Cerritos (25th), Jordan Hardy (27th), Hannah Salas (39th), Kyla Thompson (42nd), Julia Bonano (44th), and Sheree Pollack (46th).

In the boys’ race, Rafael Cerritos finished fifth in a time of 11:46. He was followed across the finish line by Gabe Gamez (11th), Joshua Ricketts (20th), William DeShazo (36th), Tyler Mickley (38th), Joshua Murphy (49th), Cole Alia (54th), Gabe Fonseca (61st), and Sidney Aaron (67th).

Fort Campbell finished in third place with 91 points, behind McCracken County (29) and Trigg County (78).

Seventh grader Joslynn Espinoza won the girls’ middle school race in a time of 15:09 over the two-mile course.
