Christian County’s defense made a statement Friday in their 43-21 win over Apollo that puts the Colonels in the driver’s seat for home field advantage through the first four rounds of the playoffs.
Purdue commit Cory Trice had an interception return for a touchdown and an 85-yard fumble return for a score as the Colonels ripped off 43 straight points after falling behind early on a Peyton Peters’ touchdown catch.
The Colonel defense was the star in this one as Corey Stubbs had a pick-six and Tre Wimbush returned a blocked punt 27 yards for a Colonel score.
Offensively, Diion Leavell and Kolbe Langhi also had touchdown runs for the Colonels.
Christian County improves to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in district play. They will travel to Graves County next week.
Apollo drops to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Class 5A District 1.
