As the time draws closer for the 8th District boys soccer tournament, it is the main question that comes to mind. That question being, is there any way someone other than the Hopkinsville Tigers walks off the pitch as the 8th District champions.
Going into Thursday night’s matchup against Christian County, Hopkinsville is 3-0 against teams from inside the district. Looking closer at the numbers, the Tigers have easily won those three matchups, with all three contests ending by the 10 goal mercy rule. Additionally, Hopkinsville has given up only one goal in those three contests, that being to UHA back on August 17th.
The Tigers did hit a little bit of a rough stretch late in the season, losing 4 out of 9 contests. However, none of those losses was against teams from the district or the region. A draw in that run of nine was against Henderson County, who appears to be the biggest threat to the Tigers in the 2nd Region.
So, for now the question is there, next week, we get to find out the answer. And, that is why they play the games.
