The Lyon County boys’ soccer team made a furious comeback after falling behind 7-0, but lost 7-5 on a night where injuries took a toll. The Lyons, ranked 5th in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region rankings, drop their second straight after a grueling, physical match at Trigg County on Monday.
The Lyons fell behind 7-0 to the Cardinals, with several players hampered by injury including the state’s 2nd leading goalscorer, sophomore Bryson Penn. The Lyons stormed back with goals from senior Max Wadlington (2), freshman Lucas Mayberry, junior Austin Burban, and freshman Todd Huddleston. Huddleston, Burban, and junior midfielder Trace Adams (2) notched assists. The Lyons won 5-2 at Mayfield a week ago.
Lyon County will look to get back on track Thursday when they visit the 4th ranked Webster County Trojans (8-3-1).
