Ian Calvert had a hat trick and assisted on three other goals as University Heights Academy beat Russellville 10-0 Monday in a boys’ soccer contest stopped 18 seconds into the second half due to the mercy rule.

Simon East scored three minutes into the contest, with Calvert notching his first goal two minutes later, and the rout was on. East had two goals in the match as did Tanner Thomas. UHA also got goals from Jacorie Summers, William Bryan, and Riley Simmons, with Mack Major assisting on two goals.

The mercy rule was UHA’s second in three matches with a Saturday tie with Grayson County sandwiched between.  The Blazers (4-3-2) will host Fort Campbell Tuesday night in an Eighth District contest at Givens Field.
