Joiner Scores Twice in Hoptown Win at Marshall County

Hopkinsville held off Marshall County 4-3 Thursday in Draffenville to get their eighth win in nine starts this season. Seth Strader gave Marshall County (7-3) the early lead on a penalty kick, but the Tigers responded with the next three goals. Ryan Roussel scored off an assist from Ethan Noel, with Noel assisting Newcomb Maddux on the second goal. Noel has a team-high 18 assists. Just before the half, Caleb Joiner scored his 19th goal of the season off a pass from Roussel.

Strader and Jacob Kramer scored goals for Marshall County to tie the game before Joiner scored his second goal of the game off a Zach Moore assist in the 63rd minute. The Tiger defense was able to keep the Marshals off the board for the final 17 minutes of the contest.

Hopkinsville (8-1) has a huge stretch coming up in the next week. The Tigers, ranked 14th in the first state coaches poll, will host 11th ranked Daviess County Sunday afternoon at 4:30. Hoptown travels to 19th ranked Henderson County Tuesday and will host 12th ranked McCracken County Thursday.
