Christian County volleyball coach Ashleigh Sympson compares serving to free throws in basketball – the higher percentage you hit the better. Christian County had a 90.7-percent serve rate Thursday as they beat Trigg County 25-19, 25-12, 26-24 at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.

Trigg County was trying to knock off an Eighth District team for the second time in a week but fell short against Christian County. The Lady Colonels snapped a four-game losing streak with the win over the Lady Wildcats. It was the first time the schools had played in six years with Christian County winning six straight against the Lady Wildcats dating back to 2007.

Ariyonna Johnson had 11 kills and four aces for the Lady Colonels, while Kathryn Buchanan had six kills, and Alexis Poor had 20 assists.

Trigg County dropped to 5-5 on the season and will host Hopkins County Central Monday. Christian County is now 6-14 and will host Hopkinsville Tuesday.
