When YourSportsEdge.com released the Second Region Volleyball Rankings Tuesday, there was some debate over which Fifth District team should be ranked the highest. Livingston Central ended that debate for now, beating Trigg County in four sets Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.
Livingston Central began the day ranked ninth, one spot ahead of Trigg County. It was the Lady Cardinals who came out of the gate strong, winning the first set 25-13. Trigg County battled back to win the second set 25-20 as Nyree Wilson had four kills and two blocks in the set. Lexie Wright added five kills in the set, and Lauren Oliver had three.
Livingston Central broke a 10-10 tie in the third set, winning four straight points and eventually building a 21-13 lead.
Trigg cut the deficit to five on two occasions, but Livingston won the set 25-19. As Tabby Padan had five kills and a block in the set.
Livingston took control of the fourth set early and never allowed Trigg to lead after the set was tied 4-4. The Lady Cardinals went on to win 25-16 and take the match.
Trigg County dropped to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the district. They will host Crittenden County Thursday.
Livingston Central improved to 11-4 and 1-0. They host Union County Thursday.
