Maddison Ruggles scored a hat trick as Fort Campbell picked up their first win of the girls’ soccer season Tuesday at Fryar Stadium, knocking off Paducah Tilghman 6-1. The Lady Falcons were the aggressor from the start as Kariahna Gamblin knocked one in from the right side just two minutes into the contest.

Fort Campbell missed several opportunities to extend the lead, but took a 2-0 lead at the 24:00 mark when Jordan Hardy knocked one home in front of the net.

Ruggles scored the first of her three goals with just a minute left in the half to give the Lady Falcons a 3-0 lead at intermission.

She added her second goal less than a minute into the second half for a 4-0 Fort Campbell lead. Tilghman cut into the lead on a breakaway midway through the half before a heavy rain began to fall.

Ruggles notched her third goal from 25 yards out, and Kaitlyn Cervantes rounded out the scoring for the final five-goal margin, Fort Campbell’s largest since a 9-1 win over Crittenden County in the second game of last season.

Fort Campbell (1-5) hosts Christian County next Tuesday in an Eighth District battle on post.
