The Hoptown Hoppers will begin the search for a new head coach for the 2018 season. General Manager John Bruce said Monday morning that Keirce Kimbel had resigned as head coach in order to take a position as graduate assistant position with the University of Kentucky baseball program.
“Keirce did a great job for us. He is a very talented young man that found his calling this summer,” Bruce said. “I enjoyed working with him and expect continued success from him as he progresses in his coaching career.”
Kimbel began the season as an assistant coach to David Weber, who resigned 18 games into the season when he was promoted within the Austin Peay baseball program. Kimbel led the Hoppers to a 14-8 record the rest of the season and an Ohio Valley League Western Division title. The Hoppers advanced to the championship series where they lost to Dubois County.
Bruce said the Hoppers will begin a national search for a new head coach for the 2018 season. The Hoppers are a summer college wooden bat baseball team that plays in the Ohio Valley League.
