The Trigg County girls’ soccer team earned their first win of the season in grand style, mercy ruling Paducah Tilghman (0-5) 10-0 Saturday morning. The Lady Wildcats, ranked 8th in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region rankings, first got on the board when junior Brittney Kelly scored her first ever varsity goal. Kelly would add two more goals later for her hat trick, with junior midfielder Madisen Ireland, and senior midfielder Alyssa Richardson also scoring three goals.
It marked the first time in program history that Trigg County had three players each notch a hat trick in a single game.
Senior midfielder Libby Redd added the other goal and also assisted on two. Ireland also had two assists as did Richardson, with senior midfielder Tiffany Shafer and sophomore midfielder Ashlee Wyatt recording one each.
Julia Rhone and the Lady Wildcat defense notched their first shutout of the year and fifth in the past two seasons.
The Lady Wildcats (1-3) will attempt to begin a winning streak when they travel to Crittenden County (12) (1-2) Monday.
