Trigg County’s softball season came to an end with a 6-3 loss to Lyon County in the semifinals of the Fifth District Softball Tournament.
Lyon County led 3-0 after three innings, but Trigg County tied the game on a two-run double by Hannah Colbert and an RBI single by Ashlyn Keller in the fourth inning.
The Lady Lyons countered with two runs in their half of the fourth inning on run-scoring hits by Sydney Melton and Lexie Smith. Lyon County added an insurance run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Alli Ellis.
Sophie Bingham allowed five hits and struck out four in picking up the win in the circle for the Lady Lyons. Colbert struck out seven but allowed nine hits for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County finished their season with a record of 15-14, which is their second winning season since switching to fast pitch in 1995.
Lyon County improved to 21-11 and has now won 49 straight games over Trigg County dating back to the 1997 season.
