Lady Racers Prep for Regular Season Finale

The Murray State soccer team looks to gain momentum ahead of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament as they wrap up their regular season with two final home contests against Eastern Kentucky Friday and Morehead State Sunday in Murray, Kentucky, this weekend.

The Racers have perfectly executed with home field advantage on the year, as they head into the two-game weekend with a 7-0 record at Cutchin Field. Murray State has also successfully defended home turf in regular-season action against OVC foes in 18 straight tries dating back to the 2014 season.

Abby Jones has had an impactful rookie campaign for the MSU offensive front, as she currently leads the Racers in goals (8), assists (7), and points (21). Miyah Watford has also contributed with eight goals followed closely by Rebecca Kubin with five scores of her own. More impressively, the Racers offense has seen 11 different players with goals this year, six of whom scored their first career goals over the course of the season.

The Racers will honor five seniors this weekend for the final game of regular-season against EKU with a Senior Day celebration on Sunday. Seniors Caroline Ashton, Katie Brooks, Cori Cain, Lauren Nosal, and Alex Steigerwald will all be recognized for their dedication throughout their careers as members of the MSU soccer team.
