Trigg County golfer Hunter Reynolds can look back at his freshman season on the links and be proud of what he accomplished. Reynolds finished his season Saturday with a round of +17 at the Leachman Auto/KHSAA State Golf Tournament and finished tied for 68th.

Reynolds shot a 6-over 78 in Friday’s first round at the Bowling Green Country Club. He then had to wait to see if he made the cut for the second round. Once he did, Reynolds realized he would have to be back at the course in just over 12 hours for a 7am second round tee time.

Reynolds began the second round with bogeys on four of his first five holes. He finished the front nine with a score of 45. Despite two double bogeys on the back nine, Reynolds managed two pars and birdied the par-5 18th hole to finish the day with a 44.

Reynolds became the first Trigg County golfer since Carter Sholar in 2014 to qualify for the state tournament and his finish is the best since Nick Choate tied for fifth in 2013.
