The UHA boys’ soccer team made a statement in its final regular-season match with a 3-1 victory over Ohio County on Thursday night. The Blazers win their second-straight and fourth in five to finish 11-4-1, while the Eagles slip to 8-7-3 overall.
Ian Calvert and Will Bryan scored to give UHA a 2-0 lead at the half. The Blazer defense was 6 minutes from completing the shutout before the Eagles finally broke through, but Simon East headed home off a corner a minute later to seal the Blazers’ 3-1 win.
Calvert had 2 assists in addition to his goal, with Riley Simmons assisting on the opening goal. Goalkeeper Dan Johnson made 6 saves for the win.
UHA will face off with Christian County (8-10-1) on Tuesday in the 8th District tournament. The Blazers beat the Colonels 4-1 on the opening night of the season.
