It’s a pretty good way to celebrate senior night. On the night the Trigg County Lady Wildcats recognized the senior members of the volleyball team, the Lady Wildcats came away with a hard fought five set win Monday night over the Murray Tigers.
The first three sets were all tight, down to the wire battles. Trigg County won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-22 and looked to have the match going in their direction. In the first set, Trigg County was up 4-3 when they went on a five point run to take a 9-3 lead and the Lady Wildcats were able to hold on from there for the three point win.
In the second, the set was tight all the way through, with the Lady Wildcats doing enough to eek out the three point margin.
However, the Murray High Lady Tigers were not going to give up the match that easy. Murray responded by winning the 3rd set 25-22 to cut the Trigg County lead to two sets to one. Murray then evened the match up by taking the 4th set 25-18.
Much as the rest of the match had been, the deciding 5th set was a tight, hard fought affair, with Trigg County finally pulling out the set 15-12 to close out the match 3-2. Murray appeared to have control of the final set, leading 8-3, when Trigg County scored nine points in a row to seize control of the set.
The win improves Trigg County to 8-15 on the season, while Murray falls to 6-14.
