The Owensboro Red Devils ran past the Christian County Colonels 42-20 at the Stadium of Champions on Friday night, snapping the Colonels’ 2-game winning streak.  Christian County slips to 4-2 with a trip to Apollo (4-2) coming up next Friday, while the Red Devils win their second-straight to also stand at 4-2 overall.

Owensboro scored on its opening possession, with Imonte Owsley finding the end zone on a short run.  With just under 5 minutes left in the first quarter, a 19-yard touchdown pass from Will Warren to Trevon Green doubled the Red Devil’s lead.

Owensboro took a 3-possession lead seconds into the second quarter when Warren again found Green in the end zone.  On the Colonels’ next possession, J’Lin Powell and Nate McGregor hooked up for 56 yards to the Red Devil 9-yard line.  JaDonavin McNeal finished off the drive with a scoring plunge from 3 yards out, but the PAT was blocked by Owsley and Owensboro still led 21-6 at the half.

The only points of the third quarter came on a 17-yard TD run by Green to give Owensboro a 28-6 advantage.  McNeal began to get going on the ground for the Colonels, accounting for almost 50 yards on a drive that began in the third quarter and was capped by Powell on a 1-yard scoring run with 10 minutes to play.

Owensboro closed the door on any comeback possibility when Green scored from 10 yards out for his fourth touchdown of the game and a 35-13 lead with 5 minutes left on the clock.  The Colonels fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and the Red Devils recovered and wasted no time getting back in the end zone on a 9-yard TD run by Owsley.  On the Colonels’ final possession, McNeal broke a 46-yard run followed by a 36-yard TD run for the final 42-20 score.
