The Madisonville Maroon positioned themselves as one of the contenders in the 2nd Region with their 1-0 win over Henderson County last week. They did nothing to change that perception with their performance Thursday night.
The Maroons scored five first half goals on their way to an 8-0 win over the Cadwell County Tigers in a 7th District match on the pitch at Butler Stadium in Princeton. The Maroons scored goals at the 3, 18, 29, 34, and 39 minute marks in jumping out to the 5-0 halftime lead.
The Maroons then extended the lead with goals at the 50, 52, and 60 to close out the scoring and the 8-0 win,
Caldwell County falls to 1-8-1 with the loss and will be the 3rd seed in the 7th District tournament. Madisonville improves to 9-4-2 with the win, and will be the #1 seed in the 7th District.
