Hopkinsville kept their game with Henderson County close early, but Maddie Griggs scored the first two goals of the second half which proved to be enough in the Lady Colonels’ 8-0 win over Hopkinsville Thursday in Henderson. It was Henderson’s sixth straight win over the Lady Tigers dating back to the 2014 season opener.

Griggs, who is already the Second Region’s career leading scorer, got her first goal of the match 22 minutes in. Sophomore Maggie Sauer added another goal five minutes later to give the Lady Colonels a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Griggs put the game away with two quick goals to begin the second half to complete her hat trick and notch her fourth multigoal game in her last five matches.

Hopkinsville was shut out for the second straight game – something that hasn’t happened since 2014.

The Lady Tigers (3-5) have a big district match with University Heights Tuesday at Givens Field.
