While Caldwell County is having trouble scoring, their defense is keeping them in games until they can get their offense going. The Tigers got another strong performance from the defense in a 3-0 loss to St. Mary Tuesday at Butler Stadium.
St. Mary finally dented the scoreboard 27 minutes into the contest on goal by Joey Eggemeyer. It proved to be the only goal of the half by either team.
Jack Roof scored 12 minutes into the second half, and Eggemeyer rounded out the scoring on a penalty kick with eight minutes left in the contest.
Caldwell’s defense along with the play of goalie Barrett Schultz were the main highlights of the contest for the Tigers, who failed the score for the fourth straight match. Schultz had 14 saves in goal, including a second half penalty kick attempt.
Caldwell County (0-5) will look for their first win Thursday when they host Fort Campbell.
