Fort Campbell gave first-year head coach Michael Massie two things on his early season wish list Tuesday – a fast start and his first win as skipper of the Falcons.

Three different players scored in the game’s first seven minutes to help Fort Campbell beat Lyon County 8-2 and advance to the championship match of the Second Region All-A Classic Thursday where they will host University Heights.

Two minutes into the match, Lyon County failed to clear a missed shot in front of the Falcon net, and Doryan Hall knocked it home for the quick lead.

Another Lyon County misplay two minutes later allowed Rafael Cerritos to net the Falcons’ second goal of the game.

Jhony Paniagua-Solis got in on the scoring fun three minutes later to put the Falcons up 3-0 in the game’s first seven minutes.

Lyon County answered when Trace Adams split two defenders on the left side and drilled home a shot to bring the Lyons to within 3-1.

Any momentum the Lyons had was short-lived as Hall scored two more goals in the next seven minutes to put the Falcons ahead 5-1 and complete the first half hat trick.

Paniagua-Solis added two more goals to complete his hat trick and give the Falcons a 7-1 lead at intermission.

Less than a minute into the second half, Jared Manhaus beat the defense for a Falcon goal and an 8-1 lead.

Adams would score his second and final goal of the game in the 54th minute.

The Falcon win avenged a 6-5 loss to the Lyons in last year’s All-A Classic Regional. The loss snapped a six-game All-A region winning streak by the two-time champion Lyons.

Fort Campbell (1-3) will try and snap a four-match losing streak to UHA when they meet the Blazers in the All-A Region title match Thursday on post.
